Human Rights Policies And Values

Human rights are fundamental rights and freedoms that all people are entitled to without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, gender identity, age, marital status, physical or mental disability, veteran status, citizenship status, gender identity and expression, or sexual orientation. Astec respects human rights in all of our activities and supports the principles set forth in the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. We are committed to extending our human rights policies to address the protection of minority groups’ rights and women’s rights. As an international company, Astec evaluates our processes and supply chain to address human rights concerns while engaging with stakeholders and expecting them to work toward reducing the risk of potential human rights violations as well.

 

Suppliers

Only suppliers who comply with the expectations detailed in Astec's Core Values, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Conflict Minerals Policy, California Transparency in Supply Chain Act and contract terms and conditions will be permitted to supply materials or services to Astec. Astec verifies its supply chain through the supplier onboarding and contracting process and under our Conflict Minerals program. As part of those programs, Astec's suppliers are expected to respect all individuals and promote the core values of dignity and honor in their operations. This includes zero tolerance for human trafficking and illegal labor practices in the supply chain. Those organizations that don’t follow our rigorous standards will not be permitted to do business with Astec.

We believe in and provide competitive compensation packages to attract, motivate and retain employees. Astec believes in fair market based pay and through external benchmarking, we study each market to ensure our level of competitiveness. In addition to base wages, we provide additional benefits for the well-being of our employees and their families.

 

Freedom of Association

We comply with laws governing the rights of workers to form and join labor associations of their own choosing and bargain collectively. We also respect the right of workers to refrain from such activities. We encourage our employees to openly communicate and share ideas and concerns with management regarding working conditions and management practices without fear of discrimination, reprisal, intimidation, or harassment.

We act consistently with these principles when conducting our business activities around the world and expect the same from our suppliers and other business partners.

 

Water as a Fundamental Human Right

In accordance with Article 25 of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of oneself and family. In addition to the listed items in Article 25, Astec believes that access to clean water is also a fundamental human right.

 

Training

Astec employees are familiar with the company's conduct, ethics, and values expectations. Employees are encouraged to report any possible violations of Astec's supplier policies through our corporate compliance office at [email protected]
